Meabh McCurtin, a rising perfumer from Ireland, has a journey as rich and layered as the fragrances she creates. Her fascination with scent started in childhood, experimenting with a perfume-making set that sparked her curiosity about the alchemy of scent.
A new chapter
While she studied chemistry, Meabh always felt like something was missing. It wasn’t until she stumbled upon an article about a perfumer that she realized there was a way to blend science, nature, and creativity. Exactly the mix she’d been searching for.
Meabh had her epiphany during her master’s studies when a meeting with an independent perfumer in Geneva opened her eyes to the world of professional fragrance creation. That experience ignited her passion, and she knew it marked the beginning of a new chapter. She felt drawn to the art of perfumery, where she could merge her scientific background with the creative drive she hadn’t fully explored before.
A creative collaboration
Meabh’s professional career took flight at IFF (International Flavors and Fragrances), where she began her intensive training to become a perfumer. One of her earliest creative projects was guided by Tanja Deurloo, the founder of Annindriya and Perfume Lounge. Together, they worked on Eau de Amsterdam, a fragrance inspired by the city’s elm trees.
More than a decade later, they reunited for Annindriya and Tipsy Tuberose was born. This bold fragrance is inspired by Meabh’s Irish heritage: the smell of boozy whiskey notes and emerald landscapes.
