Seekwood is the innovative result of creative perfumery and technology between perfumer Spyros Drosopoulos and perfume designer Tanja Deurloo. How do you capture the feeling of the sun on woods? A complex task, which Spyros skillfully captured in Seekwood, using the most sustainable source of sandalwood essence, Santalol.

Santalol is the natural hero component of sandalwood oil and represents the heart note of sandalwood oil. Its deep, woody creamy odor profile is an alternative to sandalwood oil without a single gram of the endangered sandalwood tree. Bio-based from renewable resources, santalol is produced with sustainable cutting-edge fermentation technology. About natural Saffron

Spyros sources his saffron from Greece, the country where his father was born and where he spends many joyful summers. Instead of the often-used synthetic safranol, we consciously chose the natural richness and voluptuousness of the real deal. Saffron is a rare and precious spice, also known as ‘red gold’. It grows as orange-red pistils in the crocus sativus flower and is harvested by hand. Its scent is warm, spicy, honeyed, floral, and suede-like.

Spyros Drosopoulos’ vision for Seekwood was to create a feel-good fragrance that captures the smell of the sun on woods. Inspired by both bright citrus and warm woody scents, he set out to create a harmonious blend of contrasts, working with layers and opposites. Spyros captured the brightness of sunny perfume notes and juxtapose it with the earthy tones of wood.

Becoming a perfumer wasn’t on Spyros Drosopoulos’ radar initially. The perfume industry seemed too closed off to consider. But the emergence of niche perfumers inspired Spyros, showing that creativity could transcend traditional schooling. With a Ph.D. in neuropsychology and sleep, Spyros made a bold career move, started experimenting with raw materials and taught himself the art of perfumery. Through self-study and courses, he honed his craft, ultimately becoming an autodidact and a respected niche perfumer. Today, Spyros owns his brand, Baruti.
